Release Rapid Response Team - Firefox 3.0.8 (firedrill release)

This is the coordination page for the the new Firefox Release Rapid Response Team.

The team will be watching for feedback from all over and reports of "possible" or "emerging" issues will be aggregated here as soon as they're discovered. As issues get confirmed, they'll be turned into bugs and passed on to the Release Drivers team and nominated for fixing in the next dot release. Those confirmed issues will also be "written up" for deployment by Support, blog commenter, Firefox_answers, etc.

Stability

  • A fair amount of complaining about "Firefox just updated and now constantly crashes". I suspect that this may actually be bug 486809 or bug 462476
    • Some stats: Since 3/27, the number of hits to the SUMO crashes page has gone up 30-40%. And the number of people who search on SUMO for the word crash (or something related) is up about 40% also.

General, Unknown, or Other

  • Firefox startup and page loading seems to be a lot slower since 3.0.8, tons of forum threads (almost all Windows). [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]... also have quite a few Live Chat logs.
