= Slater's Notes (11.25.08) - Still Very Rough =
Goals:
* for us: spreading Firefox, brand building, giving people tools to create
* for them: exposure, new knowledge, connections with other designers
Homepage
* primary feature should be a gallery of designs
* sort by category, popularity, recently uploaded, etc
* should it have room for a ‘featured design’ by a name designer?
* tab w/resources for designers (PSDs for download, etc)
* should have space to promote new initiatives, like the latest design challenge
Design detail page:
* larger view of design
* should be available for download
* social networking tools built In – share on Facebook, Digg, etc
* should be connected to the CommStore – ideally a link like “Make a t-shirt” should be available
* need attribution for designer
* room for comments
* Digg-style voting features?
Upload page:
* Upload to the design hub…should also have option to upload to CommStore
Other:
* Should contributors have to create accounts to comment? To upload?
* What kind of ongoing prizes will we award for the designs?
* Set up a ‘job board’ of sorts where people can post requests for certain types of Mozilla-related designs and have designers work on their projects.
Issues:
* ongoing maintenance/approvals/reviewing for brand/trademark violations – should we police this or can the community do it?
* need to seed this thing with good designs before launching…ideas for a new contest?
* we need a better name than "Design Hub"
Inspirations:
• Threadless
• DeviantArt
• Digg
• Design by Humans
