If the user wants to manually update add-ons, they can select this option in Preferences.  Doing so create an "Updates" pane in the add-ons manager that will display update that are availableInstead of an "Update Add-ons" button on each category page, these users will have a "Check for Updates" button that takes them to this Update pane.  From here the user can install all available Updates, or uncheck some in order to install a partial set of available updates.
