This was added because Ensemble will requires require its use when requiring prompting for CardDAV server authenticationduring fetching and polling requests.  Now that the CardDAV Connector development has completed, the future goals outside of the scope of the Google of Summer Code project will be the maintaining of the CardDAV Connector for any new changes or requirements, and in turn the target of developing a LDAP based edition for the overall Ensemble project.
