As part of the redesign, we intend to offer templates for page layouts of the standard types of pages (see [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Project:MDN/Contributing/Page_types Page types] on MDN). This page covers each of the building blocks we'll need, what features they should have, and what they should look like.

==Reference page structures==
It is helpful for reference pages to follow a set structure, and indeed many of them already do. To promote this consistency and make things easier for those creating reference pages, it would be a good idea to offer page templates for different kinds of reference pages. For example, take the [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/WebAPI/Battery_Status Battery API] and [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/background background CSS property] pages. These types of pages could really do with a template to speed up their creation.
