# Publish results == What We’re Going To Do Now ==* Create prototypes for on-device app authoring (proposed owner: Bryan Clark)* Test these prototypes in the field in white paper with key Firefox OS markets (proposed owner: new program manager hire)* Produce competitive insights based on consumer segmentation in key markets (confirmed owner: Ria Joy)* Secure 3 major philanthropic partnerships to fund and amplify project (i.e., GSMA, Gates, Mastercard, Omidyar, USAid). (confirmed owner: Ben Moskowitz)# Feasibility study == What We’re Going To Do Six Months From Now ==* Lead a formal PRD for launching on-device apps authoring as future part of Firefox OS(proposed owner: Maureen Hanratty/Tony Santos?)* Weave into brand / marketing story and celebrate at MWC 2015 (confirmed owner: Pete Scanlon/Mary Ellen Muckerman)# Evaluate options* Commission, produce review and greenlight business plans, as appropriate (proposed owner: Rick Fant)# Commit == How It Will Work == Create a “core project team” comprised of cross-section of FTEs on a 6 month special assignment. This team to longerbe led by a product manager (Bryan Clark proposed), who will work closely with Ben Moskowitz and David Ascher, and periodically report into the Steering Committee. No HR changes to take place. == Why It Matters == On-term initiatives# Discuss device app authoring could dramatically grow the supply of local apps in emerging markets, which could differentiate Firefox OS and the work at MWCweb platform and drive both consumer and operator demand. Though risky, a breakthrough user-facing innovation like this could re-energize partner, contributor, make appropriate announcements about future mobile for development workand user interest in Mozilla and its products. Our window of opportunity to realize these kinds of breakthrough innovations is small.

The “core team” is a hybrid engineering / field research team developing a set of prototypes for mobile apps authoring; for designing pilot programs in field with target users and target hardware; for facilitating and studying these pilots; and for developing a set of partner integration points including mobile money, SMS, marketplace, and other value-added services.

The wider group of advisors will help link this team to market insights, user research, strategy, philanthropic partnerships, Gaia, marketplace, brand, marketing, community, and other Mozilla functions.

Mozilla Foundation is negotiating partnerships to bring additional resources and expertise to the project. These partners are interested in presenting our experiments and learnings as part of a broader macroeconomic research agenda.

In this period, Appmaker and the new mobile prototypes will serve as a research laboratory. [https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8176339/info_4.jpg See Figure 1]. Through field observations, metrics, and analysis, we will use this learning period as a way to inform a Mozilla local content strategy. The existing Appmaker team provides essential support: while the technologies underlying the Appmaker product and the new initiatives may split, there are currently major advantages to shared contribution architecture, partnership pipelines, and open source community management, illustrated in [https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8176339/Concentric.png Figure 2].
