Comment on: Disable IMAP indexing
Having done that, it appears to me that the boilerplate text is insufficient to account for all aspects of disabling IMAP synchronization and indexing (which, in fact, are two different things but may accumulate to significant resource usage). I've responded in this GS topic with a procedure to disable both and to remove the space occupied by already synchronized and indexed contents. While the disabling part is probably easy enough for someone not familiar with the details to reproduce, removing database and offline files to free up space in the profile may not be for everybody (and I'm uncertain that it is the "correct" thing to do as suggested). Also, the different implications of the mail.server.default.autosync_offline_stores versus mail.server.default.offline_download preferences are not clear to me with respect to preventing future synchronization of existing or new folders and accounts. --Rsx11m 14:41, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Comment on: SMTP authentication problem
There are two different issues here: The user may also receive a "secure authentication not supported" message, then "Use secure authentication" has to be unchecked while "Use name and password" remains to be checked. The latter is only to be unchecked if the "server doesn't support authentication (SMTP-AUTH)" message is presented. --Rsx11m 15:04, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
