Product

  • romainT is starting, we'll be getting him ramped up on Talkilla process/dev this week (we should find him a decent nickname)
  • User stories workshop happening for Dan, Boriss & RomainT with William, to get us started on our process

Goals & Roadmap Priorities

  • Deliver a comprehensive and fully functional BYOS demo.
    • In progress, a discussion was had about some of the issues, and the fact we need to get firm use cases for some of the details of what is needed.
  • Build out the Talkilla platform into a stable, scalable and extensible platform, offering voice/video calls, InstantShare, chat, web content and file sharing in Firefox Desktop. Stretch: Build PSTN breakout.
  • Define Talkilla vision and plan for other Firefox products (Firefox Android and Firefox OS) and other WebRTC browsers.
  • Build communications and distribtion channels to engage on the Talkilla value proposition, and ...find a decent name

Risks

  • Enabling of Multiple Social Providers
    • Unlikely to happen for TB 26
    • Trying to get the pref turned on for TB 27
    • Needs some bugs fixing for other providers
    • Needs some handling of crashes of the frameworker
  • (long-term) Headless Social Providers
  • JSON crash when using real sub-workers
  • In progress with the JS team, one fix has been presented, being discussed & refined

Meet-ups

  • Other meet-ups in Q4:
    • Arrange small hack meetings during the quarter
    • WebRTC Santa Clara (Nov 19th-21st)

Any other issues

  • AddressBook
    • Struggling with Google OAuth2 "offline" mode
    • Needs to take a decision if we want to keep going the fetch/sync way atm (just importing would be easier)
    • Email summarizing new propositions/alternatives sent to the mailing list
    • Nicolas working on other things.
