Web Compatibility Test Day Test Plan

Use the following sections as a rough guideline of what to test. Ideally, you should test websites you use on a day to day basis. However, if you run out of ideas, feel free to use this guide. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, please voice them in the [1] testday channel on IRC] (link).

Things to Check

The following is a general list of what to look out for while testing web sites. You are encouraged to use other browsers as a basis for comparison (Safari, Internet Explorer, Chrome, other versions of Firefox, etc).

• Layout - the content of the website appears as it should, resizing window does not break layout
• Functionality - the functions provided by the website can be performed as expected
• Stability - Firefox does not crash or hang
• Performance - Response time, page load time, etc
• Firefox Features - Make sure Firefox features like Private Browsing, History, Bookmarks, Session Store, etc interact properly with the website

Accounts

• Web Banking
• Utilities (gas, electricity, water, etc)
• Communication (Cell phone, Cable, Internet)
• View invoices
• Update address information
• View account information
• Try with and without Private Browsing enabled
• Verify security information (Larry, status bar)

Maps

• Google, MapQuest, Microsoft Live Maps, Yahoo Maps, etc
• Find a city, address, place of interest
• Look for images, videos, etc
• Satellite, Terrain, StreetView
• Get directions
• Plan a road trip

Multimedia
