They determine the criteria and system design behind their badges, and they align those badges with the Open Badges Infrastructure. This benefits earners whose portable badges can then tell robust stories about what they're capable of.

Organizations that issue badges come from various sectors and sizes. They include formal and informal educational institutions; multinational corporations; industry associations; non-profits; and groups interested in professional development. They share a common interest in making their badges shareable and interoperable in alignment with the OBI.
