Who? Me?

I am a third year under-grad student pursuing a B.Tech degree in Computer Science Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology. I am a programmer,a hosteler,a strong woman-empowerment supporter,a student-for-life, an inquisitive person, a clown,a passionate traveler and a foodie. I love being a part of projects that help out people and believe that technology is worth only if it lessens manual labour, connects people by overcoming barriers and encourages creativity.

The Community Building Team(CBT) and Me

From my point of view, a CBTian is a charismatic soul that gets to meet creative "problem-solvers" or "innovators",interacts with them , helps them out with their project, uses his/her own creativity to contribute to their project and learn many new and interesting technologies, techniques and tools in return. Meeting new people from different work-places with different ideas, working on real projects, learning new ideas and technologies are all what I have liked doing. The alignment of my interests with the goals of the CBT makes me feel that I am no different than the people in the team and that I would dissolve in perfectly like sugar in milk.
Technology, particularly the computer, has always fascinated me ever since I was a kid and that is why I took up computer science engineering. This is the reason why I would like to spend my summers being a part of this phenomenal team.
My knowledge about software engineering will help in identify the requirements of a software project at every stage. Thereby, enabling me to figure out the resources required to help contributors right from the starting stage to the sustaining phase.

Technical Skill Inventory

My basket of technical knowledge includes C,C++ programming, HTML, CSS,Javascripts,Java,Android Application Programming and basic Linux shell programming. I believe my technical skills combined with my software engineering knowledge will be a great combination to understand the needs of the contributors and provide them with the relevant resources.

Projects

  • Ovuguide:

It is an android application that helps prevent unwanted pregnancy by monitoring the ovulatory cycle and guides its user on what must be done. The project is being mentored and evaluated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is an ongoing project where I am leading team from India and we are working in collaboration with members from Mbrara University of Science and Technology,Uganda.

  • Human Resources Management System

It is a simple Java application that I am currently working on that involves implementing Software Engineering techniques, stages and documentation work. It is an application designed to automate various processes in an HRD of a company.

Organisational skills

I have volunteered, coordinated and organised events in my university like "Beg,Borrow,Steal" ,"Pirates of Riviera" and "Aviators". during our cultural fest Riviera

  • Beg,Borrow,Steal

It was a fun event where participants would participate in groups to fetch certain rare and strange things either by begging or borrowing it from someone who has it by using one's convincing power. The team that collected all the things listed first won. I volunteered for it the first time and then moved on to coordinating it the next time. As one of the 3 coordinators my role was to overlook it's publicity, instruct the volunteers, schedule events, decide the proceeds of the event and the rules of the game.

  • Pirates of Riviera

My role as a volunteer for this event involved arranging for the resources required before and on the day of the event, it's publicity and ensuring that the participants played a fair game.

  • Aviator

It was a business-centric event that modeled real time market scenario's for the aviation industry. My role as a volunteer involved documentation, publicity and ensuring decorum was maintained during the event
