Facilitate and engage learning needs

Success

What success looks like

The Mozilla Ignite Learning Labs are meant as an ongoing learning environment focused on providing ignite candidates with learning resources directly applicable to their innovation and the technologies they want to utilize. The challenge comes in not knowing what their innovation is and therefore knowing what learning resources, focused on what technologies, are best to meet the candidates learning needs. Success would be having a learning environment that is nimble and focused of the current learning need, determined by the activity within the ignite "ecosystem".

How do we determine current learning need

Review the ideas and brainstorming activity, and focus on those technologies most present within these ideas and activities.

Pedagogy

Approach

  • Create an asynchronous brown bag event around many resources
  • Leverage the maker ethos / culture
  • Use discussion forum (mailing list / google group)
  • Let the learning needs bubble up from community, ignite ideas and brainstorming
  1. Engage community of learners via discussion forum
  2. promote and advocate use of discussion forum (ensure strong stewardship of discussion forum)
  3. Create resource modules
    1. Harvest ideas for discussion and technical exploration from the current ideas submitted.
    2. Connect with experts to discuss (blue sky) the harvested idea. be sure to discuss the technology required to implement the idea. < 15 minutes.
    3. Find technology expert to deep dive on technology discussed and create a screencast
  4. Coalesce resource modules into single webinar and publish
  5. Continue to engage community of learners
  6. Wrap popcorn.js around webinar to provide focus
  7. Iterate

Note: The culture and context could change as we move from moco/mofo to ignite candidates.
