User talk:AbbyD
I don't get alarmed too often but as soon as I read the ZDNet article on Mozilla's plans to change the appearance of Firefox 3.7 and 4.0 I searched out the Firefox Forums and posted a complaint. Thankfully I was steered in this direction because the ZDNet article didn't say where users could offer opinions.
Even though I enjoy building computers I don't consider myself a geek when it comes to Internet browsers. I have enjoyed using Firefox because it has a friendly and functional look. I have downloaded out of curiosity Opera, Safari, Google Chrome and all of their updated versions. Likewise, I have used and updated Internet Explorer but when they rearranged the appearance and gave it the upside down look I stopped and just kept version 6.0.
I enjoy Firefox 3.5 because of the conventional look it has. The Windows title bar is at the top, the Menu Bar beneath it and the larger buttons that I can customize to include Email, Print and all the other add-ons.
There is no useful purpose putting the URL address bar at the top of the browser. The eye is focused on the web page and the URL address needs to be nearby. Having multi-functional buttons is confusing. The ones that are commonly used shouldn't disappear because someone wants a neat clean appearance. And if you must change the appearance at least give your users the option to arrange the order and location of the visible features to their own liking.
Please don't change it.
