Regarding [1]

Why the change, I do not see a good reason for it. --Justin Wood (Callek) 00:00, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

In lieu of a reply, I have rolled back the change. (See [2]). Should you give a reason here, I can add your change back in. --Justin Wood (Callek) 21:31, 29 May 2006 (PDT)
i'm not visiting here every day, and was out of town for a week, so i couldn't answer.
the change is because i saw somewhere that the mediawiki documentation category should move as i changed it. the previous category:MediaWiki User's Guide doesn't exit now. Tsahi 14:55, 8 June 2006 (PDT)

Moves

While I do not personally mind the page moves, some pages have existed at their original location since this wiki was created, where possible, I would like to keep the actual REDIRECT that MW creates when moving the pages in-tact, rather than deleting the REDIRECT pages. At least until such time as we have a good way to track where page-visits are coming from (as in, is it worth keeping the page there). A link can come from anywhere, for many reasons. --Justin Wood (Callek) 20:53, 18 June 2006 (PDT)

Categories

Is it really needed to add a catergory to every page? It's pretty useless, especially when there is only one page in the category, and the category name is the same as the page name (example: calendar faq) --mvl 03:28, 19 June 2006 (PDT)

yes, it is. categories allow you to find other pages with the same subject. since most of the pages here are uncategorised, it will take time until all those who can be categorised will be. in some cases, like the calendar, i just categorised the main page of this subject, but there are other pages that can and should be in this category. I was personally under the same impression as mvl, where as I see it, this wiki is mainly used for project planning, and really does not benefit from the categorization or structure of distinct categories, as the MDC, or even wikipedia itself does. Though the concept is beyond what I have a say in here, so I was not going to try articulating my concerns, (until of course, I seen someone else do so). --Justin Wood (Callek) 21:05, 19 June 2006 (PDT)
but people are using this wiki, right? if this is more than a collection of isolated pages, it should be possible to navigate around the pages, and find related info. Tsahi 05:26, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
Related info via "What Links Here", or google (site:wiki.mozilla.org) searches? Or simple navigation by in-page links? --Justin Wood (Callek) 16:39, 20 June 2006 (PDT)
related info via the category. Tsahi 13:37, 24 June 2006 (PDT)
