What is the best or simplest idea that we can implement?

Curated list of addons or let the user pick any?

  • Some users will want all, however, there are some controversial addons we wouldn’t want pre-installed (ad-blocker plus, etc.)

BYOB infrastructure or let recipient install stuff on first run?

  • Would be much easier with addons bundled in BYOB build

Personas could be set in first run page

How does BYOB work with new releases of FX?

  • it would immediately switch to latest build

Will timeline conflict with EOL of getpersonas and move to AMO? happening in Q4?

  • No. We’ll have to use iframes--shouldn’t be an issues.

What about hosting of personas in the code?

  • We’re rewriting update urls so no issues.

BYOB: are we bundling specific localized version?

  • You can choose locale.
  • You can set default bookmarks.

We should put a cap on # of addons selected

Need rough estimate of timing

  • BYOB scaling is an issue
  • IT is resource constrained

Build customized first run page with collection of addons?

  • Puts too much of the work onto the recipient

Bundling addons with custom builds not hard

  • need to know whether BYOB has the ability to scale.
  • Kev said servers might be issue but could set up more
  • load depends on whether we pre-build

Creating ready made builds with addons selected, seems like a workable solution Personas can be selected

User will not be able to create personas

Idea: take webifyme data and create profiles to create custom builds

Mike: set up meeting with tomkat, kev and les to talk about technical requirements, scaling, IT.
