This article is a stub. You can help MozillaWiki by expanding it.
dweb is an abbreviation meaning decentralized or distributed web, both an explicit use of the existing web in a decentralized manner as originally intended (such as the IndieWeb community / protocols / projects), and also encompassing new decentralized web approaches such as replacements for HTTP and DNS.
Mozilla has been actively participating in and supporting the dweb in several ways:
- Participatory sessions & discussions at MozFest in October 2019:
- Talks and workshops at 2018 Decentralized Web Summit and 2016.
- Mozilla Hacks Blog: dweb series
- Mozilla has hosted IndieWebCamps in SF, Portland, and Berlin, providing participant-driven maker events for decentralized web creators to collaborate and interoperate across their projects.
Events
Mozilla (and other hosts) organize biweekly Homebrew Website Club (HWC) meetups where we discuss all things independent / open / decentralized web.
- Next HWC meetup: https://indieweb.org/next-hwc
We also host (along with others) and participate in weekend maker/creative/hacking events called IndieWebCamps.
- Next IndieWebCamp: http://indieweb.org/next-iwc
