Following are the requirements for the ammeter board that will be included in the second revision of the battery harness.

Requirements:

handle DC current of up to 2 amps from a single cell lithium battery
precision <= 1 mA
be able to measure voltage as well as instantaneous current draw
high sample rate (1 kHz)
ability to programatically disconnect and reconnect the battery
high speed USB link to host PC (capable of >= 1 Mbit data transfer)
allow lower frequency data gathering from the host - buffer & pass samples when requested
provide timing information with each sample (milliseconds since powerup)
