{page title} About Mozilla
{font}We’re a global community{/font}
of people working together since 1998 to build a better Internet. Join us!
{font}We’re a non-profit organization{/font}
dedicated to promoting and preserving an open, shared and innovative web.
{font}And we’re an open source project{/font}
whose software has been used for some of the Internet’s most innovative applications.
The common thread that runs throughout Mozilla is our belief that, as the most significant social and technological development of our time, the Internet is a public resource that must remain open and accessible to all. With this in mind, our efforts are ultimately driven by our mission of encouraging openness, innovation and participation.
To achieve these goals, we use a highly transparent, collaborative process that brings together dedicated volunteers from around the world with a small staff of employees to coordinate the creation of products like the Firefox web browser. As a meritocracy, employees and volunteers work together with equal respect and authority.
In the end, the Mozilla community, organization and technology are all focused on a single goal: making the Internet better for everyone.
Promos
We'd like to add a promo(s) to the page to highlight various things, such as donations, ways to contribute to the community, etc. For example of how promos are used on other pages, see the Promo documentation.
Goal: Reorder nav from alphabetical list to a list based on importance of content and move any unrelated material (specifically the Brochure link which should be moved to a location with other material for events.).
- Mozilla Manifesto
- Organizations
- Roles and Leadership
- Policies
- History
- FAQs
- Support
Note: Remember to update links in footer when updating the nav in this section.
Coding Thoughts
Our goal for www.mozilla.org pages is to help advance web standards where possible. This page is light on design elements so there's not much opportunity to use some standards such as canvas or SVG. Our thinking is that this could be a good opportunity to showcase the new WOFF format. Some relevant links:
- Web Open Font Format for Firefox 3.6
- FontFonts on the Web, Starting Today
- Page about Meta font and WOFF
Note: We have a license for WOFF and EOT versions of the Meta fonts.
