Top level goals:
- Mozilla Drumbeat. Introduce Drumbeat to the world. Build compelling projects and vibrant community.
- Mozilla Story. Strengthen Mozilla's position as the leading publicly supported charity building and protecting the open Internet.
- Mozilla Core. Find simple and novel ways to make the existing Mozilla community more productive, cohesive and understandable.
Objectives, activities and metrics for each of these goals are included below.
1. Mozilla Drumbeat
Goal: Introduce Drumbeat to the world. Build compelling projects and vibrant community.
- Objective #1: Finding and setting up projects that excite us. Mostly from people we don't know yet. (emerging projects)
- Start with a set of inspiring "bootstrap" projects that show what we mean & deliver early impact.
- Use those sample projects to help get great new projects into longer term project pipeline.
- Objective #2: Establishing Drumbeat events as places where the future of the internet is being invented
- Launch the 2010 Mozilla Drumbeat Festival to celebrate successes, sprint on projects & invent the internet's future.
- Use local events to identify local leaders and projects to feed into the Drumbeat project pipeline.
- Objective #3: Building and evolving a flexible online platform to support Drumbeat projects and events. (mockups)
- Provide an online home and workspace for Drumbeat projects to recruit helpers and drive participation.
- Drive compelling stories about Drumbeat projects across a broad range of social media and partner sites
3. Mozilla Story
(aka 'Mozilla as leading internet charitable org' - needs better title)
Goal: Strengthen Mozilla's position as the leading publicly supported charity building and protecting the open Internet.
- Objective #1: Explain Mozilla as a cause. Make our story easy to understand.
- Describe and distill what Mozilla does and why it matters in lay language
- Make www.mozilla.org a top-tier community site.
- Help the community transition to an integrated One Mozilla story.
- Create Mozilla mission media monitoring report
- Annual Report (interactive) produced in collaboration with other Mozilla organizations.
- Objective #2: Inspire people to donate to the Mozilla cause
- Establish campaigns and ambient pages for donations that support Mozilla's cause
- Objective #3: Maintain our public charity status
- Ensure effective org reporting and communication about our mission

3. Mozilla Core
Goal: Find simple and novel ways to make the existing Mozilla community more productive, cohesive and understandable.
- Objective #1: Bring new members in to the community
- Identify, triage and address stumbling blocks in new contributor process.
- Continue to run and grow Mozilla Education initiative.
- Objective #2: Help existing community members be more productive
- Support continued improvements to the Mozilla Project governance structure
- Identify, triage and address important community concerns and blockages, e.g.
- Create Mozillians.org to enable community members to know each other better.
