    • Revised design from Alex coming this week
  • Addons Manager (Rob Strong, Mossop, mwu)

Round table

  • Don't forget to add changes that may impact documentation to the Firefox 3 for developers page.

General Discussion

Blockers and Noms

Blockers report:

GFX Update

  • Progress Last Week
    • vlad: backlog of patches (completed, waiting review, mostly) for Mac font selection, win32 printing, cairo speedups, some microbenchmark speedups etc.
  • Planned for This Week
  • Issues/concerns:
    • vlad: needs help with bug 362549 (Mac bug with new tabs not repainting until they get their first document successfully displayed, be it an error document or something else) -- need someone who understands initial page loading and the initial reflow process, and possibly the view system and widget creation
    • vlad: Cairo 1.6 release scheduling; this is going to be the stable release that we're going to ship with. Right now Cairo's in the 1.5 development series; there's a bunch of stuff in there that we want/need. I'd like to try to get a final 1.6 release of Cairo in time for M8 (the Sept firefox feature freeze) -- is that acceptale?
    • tor: do we want to push forward with color management (bug 16769)? General case (not shortcutting profile correction for output devices claiming to be sRGB - not implemented yet) gives about a 6% performance Tp drop on linux.

Layout Update

  • Progress Last Week
    • roc: not much (on vacation)
  • Planned for This Week
    • Fixing text regressions/crashers
  • Issues/concerns:
    • bug 154892 (Splitting abspos frames): go/no go?
    • roc: need reviews

Content Update

  • Progress Last Week
  • Planned for This Week
  • Issues/concerns:
    • There's a cross-domain communication system in HTML5; I (Waldo) did some work on an implementation over last weekend, and if you change the API slightly to yourWindow.postMessage(message, otherWindow) (see whatwg list discussion), it's reasonable to have it done in the next week-ish, early enough for 1.9, without the changes requiring a significant security audit (so far as I can see). If I were to finish it in my spare time, say, by Sunday, is this something people would be interested in putting in the work (reviews) to get in 1.9?

Mac OS X Update

  • Progress Last Week
    • Josh rewrote much of the drag and clipboard services, big improvement
    • Steven wrote a large patch for popup window handling, fixes quite a few bugs (patch at bug 387164)
    • Stan worked on menu icons
  • Planned for This Week
    • Steven working on a 1.8 branch plugin bug
    • Josh working on the mac focus bug
    • Stan working on menu icons
  • Issues/concerns:
    • Waiting on a Camino tinderbox upgrade to drop support for building/running on 10.3 and upgrade to gcc 4 on PPC
