Status updates

  • Neil - templates
  • Ryan - server set up + plugins
  • Deb - content
  • Sean - outstanding design/graphics issues
  • Other?

Questions

  • What are the current blockers, if any?
  • When will I be able to start feeding content into the site? If I put content in the staging site, will it be automatically pulled into the live site?
  • What testing will QA do, and what testing will have to be done without QA?
  • Will it be possible to import old blog posts from existing Labs site into the new site? Just putting them in the main Labs blog should be fine.

Detailed planning

  • Put together a detailed roadmap of deliverables and dates for what we need to do between now and launch.
  • What needs to happen, specifically, between now and launch?
  • What are the ETAs on those items?

MEETING NOTES

status

Neil

  • Templates have been sent to Ryan
  • A couple of outstanding issues - mostly sidebar/feed stuff
  • Need content to really finalize stuff
  • Still have to figure out how the footer stuff works
  • No current blockers

Ryan

  • WPMU is set up on staging server
  • Haven't had time to look through the templates yet, but will later today
  • Not blocked on anything

Sean

  • Will be recutting some graphics and working on pixel-level edits
  • Will be working with Neil this week on final tweaks
  • No blockers

Deb

  • Labs team has provided about half the content. Whatever isn't complete by next week, Deb will chase down and fill in herself.
  • Will try to get in touch with Beard to work out a launch plan + find out what he wants/expects.

Other stuff

  • Some discussion about how the templating works in terms of customizing per project -- Neil has it all largely set up already.
  • Migration strategy -- Ryan's going to set up a wiki page and work with IT to sort this out. Will likely involve doing an export of the current site content just before shutting it down, blowing that database, importing existing content into new site, and going through and setting up all new user accounts. This will allow us to feed content into the staging site and have that moved to live when we launch. This plan is still to be finalized.

questions

  • No current blockers
  • Will be able to start feeding content into the site mid/late next week (on staging)
  • See above re: migration strategy for Stage > Live content info
  • QA is providing only very basic functional testing and a rough test plan. Testing will be almost entirely up to Labs folks (Deb, mostly, but I will get the Labs team to help as much as possible).

roadmap + schedule

  • Templates into staging site with content for a test project (Ubiquity, most likely) + make sure everything works (Ryan: July 13-15)
  • Complete adding content (Deb + whoever: July 15-17)
  • QA/testing (Deb + labs team: July 20-24)
  • Migration strategy (Ryan + IT: July 20-24)
  • Final testing, fiddly bits + details (Everyone: July 20-24)
  • Launch strategy w/ Beard (Deb: ASAP)
  • Launch strategy w/ IT (Ryan: will start investigating)
  • LAUNCH ETA: end of July (July 30 since 31 is a Friday)
