What is the overall goal I want to accomplish by attending MozCamp Asia

For the past 6 months or so I've been actively involved with Mozilla Philippines. Primarily, I've helped with the Tagalog translation. At MozCamp, I want to meet up with other Mozilla Philippines to make sure we're on track to ship the Tagalog Firefox translation this year and figure out what I can do to make it happen. This will also serve as a model for how other Philippine dialects (Bikol, Chavacano, Iloko) will make their way into Firefox. I would also like to get some face-to-face time with the leaders of the Mozilla Philippines community to figure out I can best the community from abroad.

If I attend MozCamp, I also intend to make a side trip to the Philippines to meet up with the larger community there and help encourage and on-board people to localization and other areas where people can get involved with Mozilla.

What I want to achieve by Sunday (November 18th)

  • Ensure we have a solid plan to ship a Tagalog Firefox this year.
  • Figure out other concrete ways that I can help out the Mozilla Philippines project & community.
  • Get to know Mozilla Philippines leaders better.

What I will achieve by December 2nd

  • Meet with community members in the Philippines and help on-board them into localization, coding, or other areas of interest.
  • Do what I can to ensure the Tagalog Firefox is included with Firefox 18.0 Betas.

What I will achieve by December 16th

  • Follow-up with people I have helped get into the project and make sure they're able to effectively contribute.
  • Test and QA the Tagalog Firefox betas to make sure we're ready to ship with 18.0 in January.
