Steps are part of the Participation Ladder, and have key components to consider in design. Please use this template when defining your steps.

Step Outcome | Tying to the project outcome, this describes the way a step contributes strategically to the outcome of the project goals. |
Contributor Outcome | What basic skills are needed, or will evolve for the contributor as part of this step? |
Key Skill-set(s) | What basic skills are needed, or will evolve as part of this step? |
Skill-set Level | For core skills, what's the entry-level experience? (Beginner/Novice/Intermediate/Advanced)? |
Assessment Criteria | How are you recognizing success? Write this in a way that ensures the contributor also understands or can be used as 'self assessment'. |
Recognition Component | Determine answers for recognition components

Education/Training Support | Are there internal or external education & training resources that contributors can leverage for better quality contribution and professional development? |
Mentorship | Is mentorship available for this step? Briefly describe if so. |
Specialization | The reason we design steps, and ladders is that one person may decide to ‘stay’ and specialize. Can someone become an expert or mentor this step? |
Prerequisite? | Is there a step required or suggested before this one? Link one or more. |
Web Literacy | Will this touch on any Web Literacies, if so which ones? |
