Firefox QA Standup - July 29th, 2015

  • [Florin] Desktop General status - https://etherpad.mozilla.org/DesktopManualQAWeeklyStatus
    • 40.0 Beta builds - 7 & 8 signed off
    • Windows 10 testing (many uplifts in Beta and DevEd)
    • Regression testing - e10s - covered PDF, Firefox Accounts & Sync
    • Main focus:
      • 40.0 Beta builds validation - Beta 9 & RC
      • Windows 10 testing - still highest priority
      • Feature testing - signing off on Beta features

Major New Desktop Features status

  • [Andrei & Cornel] Windows 10
    • Fx 41 Developer Edition sign-off in progress - https://goo.gl/aRYOlS
      • It's a bit disconcerting that fixes are still landing on Fx 41 as we speak
    • We're still verifying uplifts and new fixes as they come, but it's our second priority for now
  • [Cornel] Suggested tiles: Sponsored (Read-only)
    • Feature sign-off is in progress.
    • A couple of small fixes still need to be verified before completing the process.
    • Bugs worth mentioning and considered important to be fixed before the release (ugly UI impact):
    • No potential blockers so far.
  • [Bogdan] Hello - Context (Read-only)
    • Fixes that were discussed via email arrived in 40 beta and were verified.
    • Feature looks ok.
  • [Ica] Add-ons Signing (Read-only)
    • No updates.
  • [Catalin Varga] Control Center
    • Bug Verification still in progress
    • Test cases have to be created
    • First Draft of the Test Plan was created it will be updated based on the new specs
  • [Ioana] Mobile updates (read only) :
  • SignOff of Fennec 40 Beta 8 - all things looked well
  • No major updates for feature this time.

  • Stability (KaiRo)
    • Flash symbols working again for the most recent versions
  • EME automation + YouTube MSE automation [sydpolk] (Read-only)
    • sydpolk is working on better stall detection for video/audio playback in preparation for network bandwidth limiting tests.
    • maja_zf pushed changes that will reduce intermittent failures in MSE tests
    • maja_zf finishing up log parsing + display for treeherder's logviewer (non-buildbot jobs have to take care of their own log parsing)

  • Disabling WARP on Win7 caused crash rates to tumble down to the best numbers in months, OOMs decreased in addition to the fixed shutdownhang.
  • Contacts next week: mschifer for sign-offs and update tests, Sylvestre for anything else around 40.
