Q3 Goals
https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA/Goals/2014q3
Community
- [tracy] working on pathways for Fx team. It will have a high level approach available by end of week. There will be many pointers to needed documentation and/or processes (e.g. badges)
- [francesca] trying and editing all one and done tasks
Channel Status
Release (Fx31) (Desktop - Anthony/Liz Mobile - Aaron/Kevin)
Beta (Fx 32) (Desktop - Juan/Kamil Mobile - Aaron/Kevin )
- 32.0b5 is/was very unstable for people with certain adware installed, a backout hopefully improves that for b6 (see stability)
Aurora (Fx 33) (Desktop - Tracy/Kevin Mobile - Aaron/Kevin)
Nightly (Fx 34)(Desktop - Liz Mobile - Aaron/Kevin)
- larch (project branch) will be used for tablet UI refresh work (Fx35)
- the patch that caused the crash mentioned above (NSAttribute) is not yet backed out for Nightly but IIDs will be updated instead
ESR (Fx 24.7 + Fx 31)
Security
- Assessment of Shumway, working on test plan outline
Automation (whimboo)
- General
- Firefox Automation report – week 27/28 2014: http://www.hskupin.info/2014/08/13/firefox-automation-report-week-27-28-2014/
- Mozmill
- We stopped running endurance and addon tests for Firefox versions other than Nightly
- 20 new locales have been added for testing against Firefox Beta and Release - next 10 locales are about to get enabled
- Puppet
- All proxy related features and bug fixes are checked in now
- Remaining blocker for moving our mozmill machines to puppetagain controlled hosts is the screen resolution
- TPS
- All tests are green for half a month now on Linux - working on getting add-on installation failure sorted out on OS X (bug 1052312)
- restmail.net was down due to a domain transfer lately so causing lots of failures (bug 1050313)
- Draft for moving TPS framework code out of mozilla-central to its own repository on github (bug 1037084)
- We will shutdown the old Coversheet CI system soon
Stability
- The supposed crash fix in bug 1038243 made things even worse for people with that adware. This is being backed out across channels, and Nightly will have a "proper" fix by revving IIDs, done in bug 1051858.
- Aurora still has OMTC IPC crash bug 1021053 as #1, devs seem to be looking into it.
- Thanks to Alexandra Lucinet for great testing of openh264 crash reporting! [lizzard]
