Blockers:

Engineering

Metrics (benbangert/rmiller/vng/trink)

Heka

  • Improved self-reporting capability in times when Heka messaging pipeline is backed up.
  • Improvements to self-reporting dashboard UI.
  • Added better mechanism for specifying formatting metadata for structured message fields.
  • Improved message sampling for self-reporting.
  • Resolved all warnings generated by Go's race condition detector.
  • 'statmetric' messages can now embed stats data in structured message fields in addition to in string format in the message payload.
  • LogfileInput now supports resuming file reading from where it left off during the last shut-down.
  • Started work managing shut-down order for filters.

Sync (telliott)

  • Taking advantage of new sync installs to try to address one of the longest-standing major sync bugs (Bug 688623)
  • New auth encryption for AWS sync
  • Automated backchannel mysql kills

SimplePush (jr)

  • Continue working with QA on go server testing.
  • Fixing up heka logging.
  • building AWS instance master.

EU team (alexis, hannosch, tarek)

  • A proof of concept on geo / some research about ES and discussions with gecko core devs
  • Some fun on the load testing tool we're building, "loads". Nice reports coming, 1st integration with AWS.
  • Paris gran opening this week, oh yeah.

Other Projects

QA

Sync Server (jbonacci)

  • OPs is making good progress on the repair of Sync Stage
  • Later today we will continue load testing with the current storage and core code on Stage
    • Bug 879094 - sync: server-storage stage deploy: server_storage -> 1.16-4, server_core -> 2.14-2
  • The move from clientX to Marteau is not going well. Ryan and I continue to have issues with getting load tests to run in this environment.
    • Work in progress
  • There are a handful of Sync-related bugs now marked Resolved that I need to Verify.

Persona/SignIn/BigTent (jrgm/edwong/kthiessen)

  • gmail-bigtent waiting on final UX
  • DB alter performance issues have pushed out trains
  • Yahoo alias PIN fix waiting on final reviews

PiCL (jbonacci)

  • Slow progress being made on client-side architecture. Something testable should happen in next two weeks.
  • Good progress being made on PiCL-IdP thanks to Zac and Danny. Should be testable soon.
  • I am continuing to add content (and further complexity) to the test planning document.
  • Ryan and I need to get a status update on EU team's Loads tool

SimplePush (edwong/kthiessen)

  • Handing this one off to Ed and Karl (jbonacci).
  • Adding API unit test (in progress), bugs are being logged in github (edwong).
  • Thinking about load test approach to simulate user workflow at load.
  • After API tests added, will work on end to end workflow.

Heka (kthiessen/jbonacci)

  • Had a really good first demo/tutorial of sandbox filters from trink
  • Will continue to work with him and Rob to set up some focused functional/load testing of Heka over the next several weeks.
  • I still need to get with Danny to see how he is using Heka-Node for PiCL-IdP. Should be interesting. This work will go towards Heka needs for PiCL-Server.
