Engineering

Metrics (benbangert/rmiller/vng/trink)

Heka

  • Switched the CI system from Jenkins to Travis
  • Merged in the new CMake build system (deprecates the heka-build project)
  • Integrated various bug fixes and contributions: CarbonOutput, PayloadRegexDecoder
  • Created an AWS AMI:heka-build-win2008 for Windows development/testing
  • All Windows bugs have been addressed two bugs are Go issues. We have workarounds so Heka on Windows is 100% complete/functional.

Sync (telliott)

  • High level protocol discussions (Couch?) ongoing
  • Design reviews happening

SimplePush (jr)

  • More fun with AWS (currently Elasticache connection lag)
  • Looking at other potential data stores

MLS (Mozilla Location Service)

  • Massively updated web pages (CSS & images!) -> https://location.services.mozilla.com/
  • Rewrote leaderboard backend logic and support nickname
  • Break down incoming JSON blobs into specific cell/wifi tables for further analysis
  • Added more detailed stats (230k locations, 780k wifi, 370k cell, 27k unique wifi, 2k unique cell)

Other Projects

kazoo (bbangert / hannosch)

  • Fixed various bugs regarding Zookeeper watches not being set uniquely
  • Merged all the pull requests waiting which addressed retry issues
  • Refactored DataWatcher to actually work properly without re-entrant locking issues
  • Released kazoo 1.2

QA

Sync Server (jbonacci)

  • Nothing new to report this week
  • Still waiting on a Stage solution from OPs

Persona/SignIn/BigTent (jrgm/edwong/kthiessen)

  • train-2013.07.17 in final testing
  • MozIdP and Gmail Bridge live, 3rd party cookie messaging in flight.
  • IE P3P patch for MozIdP in testing.

PiCL (jbonacci)

  • Wait! Is this Sync or PiCL? Sync 2.0?....
  • PiCL-IdP:
    • API is past some big changes and into some small tweaks
    • back-end storage discussions continue
    • A bit of a setback/challenge for loads/unit testing - will follow up with team today
  • PiCL-client:
    • Work is starting to get parsed out to various teams
  • PiCL-server/storage:
    • Discussions continue

SimplePush (edwong/kthiessen)

  • working with Tarek to run on a cluster, improving tests.
  • blocked on memcache/go bug to go beyond 10k users

Heka (kthiessen/jbonacci)

  • Documentation for unit and flood testing is still in progress
  • Testing is on hold due to large volume of picl info to consume

Loads (edwong/kthiessen/jbonacci)

  • Loads working in AWS. (for SP anyway!)
  • See above for picl-idp, a setback in design that will need to be discussed
