To safeguard the security of our userstry it, Mozilla will block Screen Sharing by defaultgoto [https://mozilla. github.io/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html getUserMedia tests]. [https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/file/d/0B1KBl68pRmhsdElXN3NwRk1HdEk/edit Simple documentation on how to try it.]
To add Screen Sharing to your sitesafeguard the security of our users, by default Mozilla blocks unknown websites/apps from using Screensharing, such that the user is not prompted. Firefox has implemented a domain whitelist that allows approved applications, if their authors satisfy specified requirementsto ask the user to allow screen/window captures.
Though we believe that Screen Sharing will become an integral part of applications and the web experience, today the authorization prompts and user education vital to maintain security are not available in sufficient and understandable to end-users, which is why we implemented a whitelist until we have a satisfactory the user experiencebetter solution.
We are testing designs for interface options that will allow users to make an informed choice on which applications whether to enable for screen sharingallow screensharing with a particular application/site, but there is the ever-present challenge of doing this in a way that both clearly informs users of the risk and doesn’t create an overly-burdensome user experience.
