| == <b> Webmaker Community Call Recipe</b> ==
| |
|
| |
| Our weekly community calls are a great way to track the many diverse projects, discussions and preparations of the Mozillan Community as a whole. <br
| |
| />Each week we ask users to come together, share interesting links and updates, ask questions, and show off their successes or even ask for help when they reach a roadblock.
| |
|
| |
| We also ask guest speakers to join us and share their knowledge with us - and we thank you very much for being a part of it all!
| |
|
| |
| We have an audio feed, so that people can listen in, we track our meetings on an interactive etherpad agenda, and we screenshare so that our speakers can make live demonstrations if needed.
| |
|
| |
| Speakers will generally be called upon to speak on the audio call while operating a presentation onscreen, and then afterwards answer a few questions on the etherpad if you have time, as the rest of the call progresses.

| == Getting Ready: Tips for preparing for the call ==
| |
| | |
| Please sign in and dial in <b>15 minutes early</b> to BOTH the call and the video conferencing software to give everyone time to set up, troubleshoot, practice transfering presentation controls and checking audio levels.
| |
| | |
| Before the call, please arrange links and make all needed content easy to access to reduce the chances of an on-camera scramble.
| |
| | |
| Another consideration is that 'presenting' involves breifly sharing your entire desktop with the entire audience - if you have desktop content you do not wish to share, please take a look at your demo process before hand (clicking through slides, running a video clip, etc) to ensure you don't have visible content you'd rather not share showing.
| |
| | |
| Most participants prepare by setting up their content fullscreen in a browser window (or windows) beforehand.
| |
| | |
| | |
| == Video screen sharing and Demos == | |
| | |
| We will ask our guest presenters to sign into the Video Conference area, where we will be able to promote you to 'presenter' for a portion of the call. The conference software may ask you to install a Java update (Windows) or make an adjustment to your Java settings (Mac).
| |
| | |
| | |
| === Joining the Video Conference === | |

| | |
| <b>4.</b> As the Conference Host promotes you to a presenter, you may be asked to update your browser to utilize the Conference Control tools (Windows process shown)

| <b>5.</b> When you gain access to the Conference tools, you should see this window
| |
| | |
| You will want to click on the 'Share Desktop' button (circled) to display your own desktop:

| |
| | |
| <b>6.</b> You will see the conference tools in a very small bar at the top of your screen. You may run your demo as though you are running your presentation from your own desktop.

| |
| | |
| <b>7.</b> The small green icon to the leftmost of the Conference Control bar will end screen sharing. Alternately, the Conference Host can 'demote' you and end the process that way.
