Support/GetInvolvedPage

From MozillaWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Based on the three tabs on Get Involved let's list the items we would like to have and the text to describe them:

For each item, we need the title, the description, and the link target.

Volunteer Board

It looks like this tab lists projects, so we should simply be represented as one of those projects.

  • SUMO
    • Title: Join the Firefox Support community
    • Description:The Firefox Support website (powered by SUMO, Mozilla's open source support project) has over 4 million visitors per week and is powered by an incredible community of people dedicated to improving the web experience for Firefox users around the world. We have over a hundred active community members each month and we'd love for you to join us!

Area of Interest

This tab should contain items based on the task. SUMO has a lot of tasks, e.g. translation, forum, live chat, copy-editing, screencasts, documentation writing... Which items are most important? I'd say we pick the 3-4 most important ones.

  • copyediting
    • Title: Improve our Firefox support articles
    • Description: The Firefox support articles are written by volunteers and read by millions of users each month. You can help improve the articles by correcting typos and errors, adding info about other operating systems (e.g. Linux and Mac), or even adding screenshots and screencasts.

  • translation
    • Title: Translate Firefox support articles
    • Description: Only about half of the 300 million Firefox users have English as their native language. By translating just one support article into your native language, you can help thousands of Firefox users every single month!

  • Help with Live Chat
    • Title: Join the Live Chat support community
    • Description: If you enjoy helping people, connecting with others, and solving problems, Live Chat may be for you! Live Chat is all about connecting Firefox users who have questions with volunteers who can help. You don't need to be a Firefox expert to get started - just a desire to help users get the most out of Firefox!

Time Available

Not sure if the actual time needed will be listed, but just in case I'm adding the time in the text below.

  • 5 min: help out in forum
    • Title: Help Firefox users in the support forum
    • Description: Just spending 5 minutes per day in the Firefox support forum is enough to make a huge difference to users in need of help. Start your day by picking a question you know the answer to and make that user's day -- it's easy, fun and helpful at the same time.

  • 1 hour: translate article to your language

    • Description: Only about half of the 300 million Firefox users have English as their native language. By translating just one support article into your native language, you can help thousands of Firefox users every single month!

  • 1-2 hours per week: help with Live Chat
    • Title: Help Firefox users in real-time with Live Chat
    • Description: If you have a couple of hours to spare, helping with Live Chat is a great way to work with people in the community. We're there for users who need help with everything from following steps in a support article to reporting a newly discovered bug. Live Chat opens for 3-4 hours each day, and many active contributors help out once or twice per week.
