Support/Live Chat/XMPP client configuration

Jump to: navigation, search

Live Chat is based on the XMPP (Jabber) protocol, so it is possible to participate in chat sessions using any standard XMPP client. To get chat invitations from the queue, however, using the Spark client is currently required. By using another Jabber client, you will be able to receive invitations from other agents to participate in specific chats.

Server configuration

Each XMPP client has a different configuration interface, but the basic procedure is the same for all. Before you can sign in, you must create a Live Chat account if you don't already have one. (This is separate from your SUMO account)

  • Server name: chat-support.mozilla.com
  • Port: automatic (5222)
  • "Use compression" must be enabled for clients that support it
  • TLS (with STARTTLS) encryption must be enabled. (If your client does not support STARTTLS, SSL encryption can be used with port 5223.)
