Support/Metrics

On support.mozilla.com, we use a metrics tool called SiteSpect to conduct A/B tests to parts of the website. An A/B test is when a page is altered in any way, then presented to half the people that would see the original page. A performance comparison can be made, and we can determine if the alteration makes the page better or worse.

Got an idea for a test?

Here is what we need to know:

  • What page is the test being conducted on?
  • Who is the test targeting? (Windows users? Only Firefox users? IE users?)
  • Specifically, what changes need to be made? (HTML, CSS, etc.)
    • If you want to add an image that isn't already hosted on support.mozilla.com, it will need to be uploaded separately.
    • For any element that is repeated on the page, we will need to know which instances to alter.
  • What is the success criteria? (bounce rate?)
