Scott talked to Chris, who encouraged us to run a Popup event in Victoria. as a way to bring together interested organizations in Victoria, under one roof for an event. 'enact education on the spot'. Lets do this!

Open Data Day is on!(Herb)

  • Webmaker event link
  • Webmaker will participate, likely with CAGIS girls as particpants, and Saanich youth.
  • Conversation around length of time (participant attention span is important :)
  • Particpants need to bring their own laptops.
  • adults and youth/kids hacking in parrellel - the connection for youth/kids that they are hacking on the same thing 'older kids/adults are'
  • bandwidth should be OK
  • some flexibility for kids to come and go

Open Data Day - Action Items

  • Create an Open Data collaborative wiki 'thing' (Brett & Scott)
  • Draft up a Open Data day one-page description for kids, including activities (wiki and popcorn). (Probably Emma)
  • Confirm with Heather attendance # of girls
  • Confirm mentorship volunteers
  • Need to set a time / duration
  • Bring non-technology things, for attention drift, maybe lego, maybe crayons & paper.
