SeaMonkey Add-on Compatibility Tracking

Starting with SeaMonkey 2.7, all add-ons that are declared compatible with at least SeaMonkey 2.1 will work out of the box ("compatible-by-default"), i.e. you do not need to install additional add-ons or change preferences to make these work. Add-ons with binary components (like Lightning and Enigmail) and special add-ons (themes, dictionaries etc.) are exceptions to the rule.

General Notes

• This Wiki replaces SeaMonkey/2.1/AddonCompat in an attempt to make the information relevant without being tied to a specific SeaMonkey version.
• Since this is a Wiki page, anyone with an account can modify it. If you have need an add-on being checked, please add it to the Discussion page instead of this one. Thanks!
• For each add-on, only the basic functionality has been checked.
• Please don't make the below a table. The goal is to have this as short and easily editable as possible.
• "AMO" means addons.mozilla.org. "xsidebar site" includes: modified / modifiedmisc / modifiedmailnews
• Please do not add very seldom-used add-ons, themes, dictionaries etc.
• Please double-check your findings before adding to any of the below lists.
• When adding add-ons, please check for versions in this order:
  1. AMO (including experimental ones)
  2. external sources (versions that work without modifications)
  3. AMO versions that only need a compatibility override
  4. other versions that only need a compatibility override
  5. any versions that need SeaMonkey added to install.rdf
• Some add-ons might be listed as compatible at AMO but not feature compatibility in the install.rdf of the XPI file. For such add-ons, AMO sends a compatibility override signal to SeaMonkey's add-ons back-end. Affected add-ons can only be installed if either an Internet connection exists or the Add-on Compatibility Reporter add-on is installed and enabled. However, add-ons that include neither SeaMonkey nor Toolkit in their install.rdf at all cannot be installed either way (bug 680845) and need to be listed under "Needs Addition to install.rdf".

1. Please list the highest supported full release. Examples: 2.6a2 → 2.5, 2.8a1 → 2.7.
2. Please list only names (except experimental versions), since versions may change.
3. If an add-on listed in this section is compatible with a previous version of SeaMonkey, you can enable it after installing the Add-on Compatibility Reporter (ACR) add-on. (Then be sure to check that it actually works!)

2.33 (and later)

Even if an Add-on from AMO can be installed and works, although it has been tagged Not available for SeaMonkey on AMO, it might be advisable to use a Converted version, because Add-On-converter adds some additional changes.

• Adblock Plus 2.6.9 (Blocks annoying commercials) attention: Update from 2.6.7 failed 2 times until it finally was successful
• Automatic Save Folder 1.0.4 (Will open the File Browser at the right location, using simple filters on the downloaded file.)   ⓘ  Attention: Not offered for SM 2.33.1 in AMO
• British English Dictionary 1.19.1 (Dictionary, shown as "FF only")
• Classicish Addon Manager 0.8.5  ⓘ (A restyling of the Add-on Manager to a more native appearance.)
• ColorfulTabs 18.1 (Colors every tab in a different color, current Version 26.7 shown as "Not available for SeaMonkey 2.33.1")
• DOM Inspector 2.0.15 (tool to to inspect and edit the live DOM of any web document)
• FireFTP 2.0.23  ⓘ (full feature FTP client). Installation possible although there is a message "Not available for SeaMonkey 2.33.1". Some tests did not sow any problems.

• Fireshot 0.98.75  ⓘ (Screenshot Creator with PDF-Export, send by e-mail and other useful features) updates fine on SeaMonkey 2.39a1, for new installation it might be necessary to extend SeaMonkey range in install.rdf in webpage_screenshot_in_firefox-0.98.75-sm+tb+fx.xpi

• Ghostery 5.4.3  ⓘ (Shows information concerning tracking tools (Cookies) on visited page) But: bug 1154608 Websites not loaded when Ghostery-add-on and private window active
• Go Parent Folder 2.9.1.1-signed  ⓘ (Allows to find parent folder of a bookmarks search hit, so this one is a solution for bug 56418 - add folder column so bookmark search results shows where bookmark is in folder hierarchy and bug 527225 - bookmarks sidebar search just shows the hits, but not the tree-structure and bug 469441 - Add "Open Enclosing Folder" context menu to search results of bookmarks in the Library window (link to view/open containing folder, parent folder button) .
• IE View 1.5.6 (Lets you load pages in IE with a single right-click, Version shown as "Not available for SeaMonkey 2.33.1", compatibility controversial)
• NetVideoHunter 1.17 (Allows to download videos (YouTube ...) with very few clicks)
• PrefBar 6.5.0 ("The" preferences toolbar, Version shown as "Not available for SeaMonkey 2.33.1")
• RedirectCleaner 1.0.0 (cleans Redirects from Links)    ⓘ 
• Remote XUL Manager 1.2.4 ⓘ (Allows to show pages with depricated Remote XUL). Shown with "Not available for Seamonkey", but will work fine.

Addon compatible after having used Firefox & Thunderbird Add-on Converter for SeaMonkey
Even if an Add-on from AMO can be installed and works, although it has been tagged Not available for SeaMonkey on AMO, it might be advisable to use a Converted version, because Add-On-converter adds some additional changes.
