Goals

(because goals are awesome! huzzah!)

  1. Communicate Brand Positioning
  2. Promote Developer Awesomeness
  3. Establish Accessibility Excellence
  4. Measure User Happiness
  5. Develop World Class Mobile Experience
  6. Adapt to Rapid Product Release Cycles


Rough list of Q2 goals (will finalize with Web Team feedback):

Communicate Brand Positioning

  • complete .org/.com merge for "Firefox product site"
  • improve conversion on Firefox landing page by x% with testing & measurement
  • improve brand awareness on Firefox landing page by x% with testing & measurement
  • create brand style guide (possibly not a web team project but a Flux Team product)

Promote Developer Awesomeness

  • 3 mini HTML5 projects (note: one will be executed in a hackathon over work week)
  • integrate new product processes with engineering infrastructure
  • dynamic content project(s)

Establish Search Excellence

  • create sitemap for search engines & update schedule
  • implement SEO/tag strategy (includes 404 page to assist with & improve lost lead user experiences)
  • Standards compliance (includes accessibility for screen reader standards, etc.)

Note: All of the above will be part of a checklist of excellence initiated by Ryan Snyder that we will use alongside all projects.

Measure User Happiness

  • conduct design & user research (eye tracking, user testing, brand awareness)
  • centralize a web metrics dashboard for reporting on user engagement success

Develop World Class Mobile Exprience

  • develop world-class mobile experience for the "Firefox product site"
  • increase conversion to download for mobile clients
  • (Need input from Dev Team here on mobile clients we'll be shooting for and ideas around fancy CSS, etc. anything you've got!)

Adapt to Rapid Product Release Cycles

  • successfully launch FX5 on the website

Website Onsite: Mozilla Web Team Onsite (April 11-13)

A 3-day working onsite in Mountain View to gather as a team and tackle such projects as:

Possible Agenda Topics

  • Work on the domain name change as a group - [at least 2 meetings around that]
  • Overarching goal setting/planning - Q2 & Q3
  • Post-mort on bi-monthly release cycles - what can we do better?
  • Roadmap planning - architecture and technical assesments
  • Triage the bug backlog - currently 400 open bugs
  • Much, much, more
