Title of Session: Releases: Past/Present Problems, Future Solutions, and Helping Out

Summary (still in progress):

  • A short intro about the role of release management in the product
  • Channels, rapid releases, versioning, frequency of updates, and other FAQ (basically an overview)
  • Problems unique to shipping Firefox, with anecdotal evidence. Also unique solutions to those problems in the future
    • Scalability of multiple releases, esp. w/r/t community - Firefox, Firefox ESR, Firefox for Android, and Firefox OS
    • Investigating issues while maintaining user privacy
    • 3rd party add-ons/plugins
  • How to contribute to, and help out with, our releases (including B2G)
    • Crash-kill team
    • QA testing and sign-offs
    • Input feedback triage
    • SUMO
    • L10N (?)
    • RelEng (?)
