Title of Session: Localizing Design: One Mozilla in Your Community

Facilitators: Matej Novak & Sean Martell

Are you paid or volunteer staff?: Paid

Area of Contribution (Team Name): Creative (Brand)

How are you currently involved with the community?: Steward for Creative

Location of Work (where do you reside?): Toronto

Talk Length (please choose between 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes):
Either two 90- or 120-minute sessions, one on each day, or a less structured format where we would have some space set aside for the duration of MozCamp so people could drop in as they like (definitely flexible on this and happy to discuss how best to make it work).

Summary:
Earlier this year we launched the revamped mozilla.org homepage based on our new Sandstone website style. Now we're ready to introduce the One Mozilla style guide, which includes all the information you need to implement Sandstone on your community sites. The guide also outlines the rules and best practices surrounding our brands, products and how we communicate. At the same time, we'll be making all the assets you need available in a brand new asset repository.

Come learn about the One Mozilla style guide, what it includes and how you can put it to work for you and your community through demonstrations and examples. Topics will include tips on implementing Sandstone, making your layouts responsive (for mobile devices) and localizing your designs beyond just translating the copy.

We'll also be bringing some fun projects for people to work on, like sticker templates that you can customize for your community, as well as offline crafts, like building your own Firefox toy.

Come meet the creative teams, bring your questions and get hands-on assistance.

How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MozCampEU2012/Tracks):
This falls under both the Grow Mozilla and Mobile + Desktop tracks. Empowering and bringing in new designers helps grow the Creative Team, while creating better localized pages helps with our download and retention goals.

Expected Outcome or Deliverable:
Participants will leave with the tools necessary to implement Sandstone (and other brand and communication elements) on their sites and throughout their communities. We'll invite everyone to stay in touch with us going forward (via email, IRC, etc.) to ask any other questions that come up and get feedback from us so we can make sure they have everything they need.

Desired Audience Type or Skill-set:
Designers, localizers and anyone looking to learn more about creative (design in particular) and how it applies to furthering the mission in their local community

Equipment Needs (Video projector already included):
A couple of computers (iMacs, maybe?) that people could work on (with Adobe Creative Suite installed) would be a nice-to-have, in case people don't have their own or don't have the software (they could also use these to browse the One Mozilla Style Guide and/or assets repository)
