Sneak Peek Apps Ecosystem for Basecamp Oct-Feb Kickoff (Caitlin)

  • does it reflect Firefox OS slippage?
  • no formal decision about slippage yet, so not reflected in the plan yet
  • caitlin will create status updates for each team using the template in the last slide

mozPay landed

  • landed!
  • can only be used with the mock payment provider
  • not hooked up to bluevia yet
  • we just have a test setup
  • unclear if we have partner contracts in place yet

DevHub next steps

  • triaging feedback from alpha release
  • morgamic meeting with ednapiranha to determine next steps
  • morgamic also meeting with kdangoor re: developer tools for desktop, android, and b2g
  • morgamic meeting with dbuc to discuss idea of Apps UI SDK, which combines web components and gaia styles

updates for packaged apps

  • sicking sent to the discussion forum a proposal that has been received favorably
  • will need an external JSON file that contains metadata about the app
  • has not yet been implemented in basecamp
  • not at all on desktop, as we don't have packaged apps there
  • clouserw likes the idea a lot, works the same as addons, minimal work for marketplace devs
  • mounir is going to implement it in the platform
  • it changes install, so we might want to frontload it
  • would be urgent if it required already-submitted apps to be resubmitted
  • but it sounds like that isn't the case, so it's just the normal amount of urgent

stability problems

  • QA is experiencing general stability problems
  • nightly builds are not usable
  • QA flashes phones from build that comes out on ftp on a daily basis
  • jsmith will try again with today's build

P2 Android

establishing Android-dedicated program team checkin meeting

  • team needs to have cross-functional meeting to drive program forward
  • monday triage meeting has started to turn into this
  • that meeting has been mostly engineering, qa, pm coordination

  • we don't have people we never get
  • we didn't send out meeting notices this week and should make sure we do so in the future
  • but more important is to make sure the meeting has the right focus and we've invited the right set of people
  • we've mostly figured out the focus

  • but there are a few more people to invite (and others who don't need to be invited anymore, although of course they are welcome to attend)
