Drumbeat/events/toronto/training/montreal
From MozillaWiki
What we know
- It should be the Drumbeat Quebec event (how can the open web add value to Quebec
- There is interest in the Montreal community, but it will be a challenge to get more than the usual suspects - it means it will be a longer process of bringing in the usual suspects as such the when will be further down the road
- 4 hour event
- $500 event budget
- 50 people (?)
- Who will the key organizers be?
- We don't know who would localize the materials REALLY IMPORTANT!
What we don't know
- When (we have an idea though)
- Who we're organizing it with
- Event space
- What kind of support you get from Mozilla
- How thoughts and plans merge with the rest of the drumbeat events and community
- Cost (food, hope for donated space - if we can't get free space then it's an indicator that there's not enough interest)
- What language the event will be documented in (hopefully both)
- What's a bigger hook, FLOSS or Mozilla, don't know the reach that Mozilla would have
Assumptions
- Bilingual event (Montreal Style - people speak English or French with no translation)
Timeline
- Try to get Drumbeat materials localized into French
- Suggested date in the fall, looking to engage students - early November
- Convene a meeting of 5 to 6 people from different communities (Christine Prefontane, Sylvan P, Brett Gaylor)
- August/September - go to clubs at the universities, identify student organizers
- Secure an event space
- Set up a page on drumbeat for the event
- Start Promotion and buzz
- Party
