    • high-level APIs taking longer to develop than originally expected
    • refocusing release around bug fixes and OS support (particularly Windows)
    • schedule moved up a few days
      • freeze this Thursday, March 18 at midnight
      • first RC on Friday, March 19
      • final release on Friday, March 26

    • meeting next Tuesday to plan
    • schedule remains the same
      • freeze Sunday, April 18 at midnight

Top issues this week (mostly related to 3.6 update):

  • Hotmail with Firefox 3.6 has trouble with forwarding and replying to emails bug 538892.
  • Webpages appear very small in Firefox 3.6 on Windows (or occasionally very large). This is most likely an issue related to the operating system DPI setting: bug 549919.

Fennec Project

  • E10s/Qt 4.6 are working on device, expect communication about this sometime later today
  • Auto add-on update landed on nightlies
  • Lots of 1.1 feature patches in review. So, for those on nightlies, expect a lot of changes over the next couple of weeks

  • Trying to raise the "which nightlies" thread from the dead.

Release Engineering

  • Going to need more than usual amount of time to seed mirrors for the 30th. There are 5 releases happening that day (3xFx, 1xTb, 1xSeaMonkey)
  • Major updates for 3.0.19 -> 3.6.2, 3.5.9 -> 3.6.2 should be available today for testing
  • FF3.7a3 will provide updates for FF3.7a1, FF3.7a2.


Web Dev


  • Still no updates of note. Yes, I felt compelled to write this just to break up the bleakness of this space.



  • Plugin Check will be released with Cross-browser functionality on March 23rd.
    • Only works with the latest versions of modern browsers:
      • Chrome 4, Safari 4, Opera 10.5, Firefox 3.6
      • Only certain plugins for IE 7 & 8
        • Java, Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, Shockwave, BrowserPlus, DevalVR, Silverlight, VLC
  • Working on "What's New" pages for 3.6.2/3.0.19
    • For 3.0.19, changing copy encouraging users to upgrade to 3.6 Bug 549510
    • For 3.0.19 First Run page, a redirect to the What's New Bug 551792
    • For 3.6.2 changing wordmark and header copy Bug 549413
  • New plan of attack for Rethinking the Mozilla Web Universe
