Agenda/Notes

The MDN community meeting takes place in the #mdn channel on irc.mozilla.org at:

Introductions

Since lots of people lurk in #mdn, if you're actively attending the meeting please speak up and introduce yourself.

  • Attending:

Announcements

  • Did we mention it last week? 13 locales have the UI 100% translated: sv-SE, zh-TW, ru and uk joined the ranks lately. Several others are 90%: sq, pl, hu, and significant activity happens on cs, ko, ca, ro. Maybe we will reach 20 this year.

Help wanted

Please share documentation bugs that need work or other things where you need short-term help.

  • Like always BugsAhoy [1] has a list of easy to tackle bugs! Since last week quite a few have been closed but new ones have been added! You don't necessarily need to be proficient in the languages of the Web to help!

Blockers

Is there anything keeping you from making progress?

What are you working on?

Please share recent accomplishments, and goals you have for the next few weeks.

  • Chris and Jean-Yves are doing a mini-sprint today and tomorrow to move FxOS-only API under Firefox OS.
    • It will make the Open Web reference more clear
    • A side-effect is to prepare the Firefox OS zone for dezonification, like the Add-ons zone has been prepared by Will a few weeks ago.
  • Jeremie still on Browser Compat
    • Want to know the status of the project, check our Project Dashboard
    • We'll freeze the bicycle milestone next week, please review it and speak loud if you think it misses some major bugs to block the milestone.

Miscellaneous

Anything else we need to discuss synchronously?

  • What can we do to increase attendance and engagement in this meeting?
    • IRC is an obstacle for people who are not already involved.
    • The purpose of the meeting is for regular contributors to discuss things.
    • We might need to do direct invites to regular contributors.
    • Maybe invite people who have successfully closed a doc bug via BugsAhoy; use the meeting to recognize their work.
    • It's important to communicate the minutes of the meeting afterward, to let people know the meeting has an impact.
  • Florian would like to start a monthly show-and-tell as a hangout, to explain how to do things on MDN (e.g., fix BugsAhoy bugs). It could be recorded and shared on AirMozilla.
  • Who will moderate the next meeting?
    • Need someone else besides Janet, who has a conflicting meeting.
