In most parts of the world, news is being delivered only in English failing to reach out to a considerable population that relies purely on their native/local language. So, our key thing is to break these language barriers and take the message of Mozilla to people irrespective of their place and language.

موزیلا عوام کے فائدہ اور ویب کے مستقبل کی تشکیل کے لیَے- With regular newspaper articles, we try to bring awareness among the people to make the web a better place. We're doing that by reaching out to new kinds of people – students, educators, filmmakers, journalists, scientists, artists or it can be any reader who is a normal Internet user and who might care about their online life.

Therefore, The plan behind is to create news articles in simple language on various topics, localize them and try to put them up for publication in newspapers, magazines and also in tech—blogs around the globe.

Nature of Articles

So, let us consider our own Firefox browser for an example.

  • We could either explain people on how Firefox has revolutionized Open Source, how it has cared for making the Web “Open” and how it fights for people’s freedom in the Internet (something that suits people with no background in Technology and Internet)
OR
  • There are so many technologies – (HTML5, WebM, CSS, SVG, Geolocation, Websockets etc.) which are being implemented in it. We could explain why these web standards are required – How important they are for the functionality of web, how they came into place, how they work, how they are evolving and adapting and the like – that caters to nerds.

We may work in parallel to produce article resources for both the kinds.

What we publish let it depend on the Nature and background of the publisher and their target audience. This can be achieved using the Strategic Media Landscape Form that was asked to the Comms SIG and regular feedbacks from the Comms SIG or ReMo at that place.

Project Scope

As days pass by, more technologies come into place and subsequently our web evolves. As and when a development happens, we update the article repository by explaining why they are required and what role it plays for the openness of the web by means of short articles/interviews.

Until now, we haven’t had a repository of articles of such kind and the initial phases of the project shall be a little hectic. We’ll try to write articles on all the topics that we find appropriate. Once we're done with this, we need to update the article base, only when something new is up.

We will not restrict ourselves to only writing articles - with our primary motif to spread Mozilla - relatively rare form of promotions, such as podcasts, webomics etc. can also be useful in the long run.
