Ops

Engineering

Metrics (bbangert/rmiller/vng/trink)

Heka

  • Updated build to produce binaries w/o debug symbols on unix and windows.
  • Message initialization clean up.
  • Sandbox limits now controlled by sandbox manager for dynamic sandboxes (instead of being set per-sandbox).
  • Updated NagiosOutput to support use of send_ncsa binary in addition to http for sending nagios commands.
  • Logstreamer file watching / file rotation fixes.
  • Sandbox decoders now support data preservation just like sandbox filters.
  • Added IPV6 support to UdpInput and TcpInput, and unix socket support to TcpInput.
  • Reorganized plugin configuration documentation.
  • Fixes to SmtpOutput to get it to play better w/ gmail.
  • Added support for multiple stats per UDP packet to StatsdInput.
  • Fixed sandbox plugin doc comments so they can be cleanly included in Sphinx docs.
  • Added "share_dir" global config setting to specify root folder for Heka's read-only resources.
  • Added rsyslog sandbox decoder.

Sync (telliott)

Location Service (graydon/hannosch/rtilder/vng)

  • Impressive contributions to MozStumbler from the community (release notes of 0.13 - https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mozilla.dev.geolocation/uxAQ0i7C-gw/LC93LJCcQ7sJ)
  • More raven/sentry integration, especially for async tasks
  • Improvements around statsd integration, filtering out some very noisy messages like random 404's
  • Some house cleaning / updating dependencies to latest versions
  • Reworked the main async tasks for data submission, better grouping cut DB usage in half
  • Investigating better storage options, data retention, currently data is growing at ~1gb/day

Presence (bbangert/tarek)

Where's My Fox (jr)

  • Continued FxA integration work with the client and desktop.
    • Neat! Persona and FxA assertions cross verify. Desktop reqs are a bit looser for now.

QA

  • Richard Pappalardo has joined services QA

FxA/FFa and the "new" Sync

  • Train 02 deployed to Stage yesterday. Already falling down with a basic load test.
  • Train 01 is going out today - trying to unblock logging pipeline
  • Load testing of TokenServer and Sync will continued today
    • See "too many bugs and issues to list here"
  • First test pass complete

Heka

  • OPs team working on integrating v0.5.0 into FxA, TokenServer, and Sync

Loads

  • Tarek helped us to get back to using the Loads cluster (rather than running load from a localhost).
  • Ryan K rewrote the FxA, TokenServer, and Sync load tests to make use of localhost (test/bench) or the Loads cluster (megabench).
  • QA is still working through some issues with the tool and the tests.
  • OPs has added some nifty dashboards for us - Heka, Kibana, StackDriver...
