Design & Development work
- Topic pages - what is the plan?
- Bram will be testing paper prototypes. The final version should include a way to add a description and manually curate some content. This version is part of the "Redesign Implementation" on the Kitsune roadmap.
- What visual design resources do we need for all of this IA & UX work? Do we have any committed?
- We do need visual design resources to turn everything that Bram will wireframe into final designs. We don't have any committed at this time. We're investigating.
- How can we work on support.allizom.org without work being lost?
- We forgot to talk about this. :(
- Keywords: Do we still need these with the new search engine? If so, how do they differ from synonyms?
- We don't have synonyms yet so we have to continue to use Keywords the way we have. In the future when we do have synonyms, keywords will be a way to relate ideas on an article by article basis. For example, Windows Media Player and malware are NOT synonyms but the WMP article might need malware as a keyword.
Desktop
- Style guide "workshop" to start next Tuesday in the KB forum.
- We talked about workshopping topics, titles and summaries. I think we also need to talk about when to archive and unarchive an article.
- Matt suggested that we look into life cycle management tools to help us with this (remind us to review old documents).
- We talked about workshopping topics, titles and summaries. I think we also need to talk about when to archive and unarchive an article.
Current article to-do list
- Firefox 12 updates are in progress.
- 3.6, Win 2000, Win XP EOL articles are next.
- Bram is finishing up new task based pages.
Mobile
- Mobile has a new start page!
- Michelle requested feedback on the new screencasts.
Services
- From the product coordination meeting: Sign into Browser/Sync 2.0/persona/BrowserId will happen sometime between Sept and Dec 2012. When that happens old Sync clients will not work (i.e. Firefox Home and XUL Fennec).
Marketplace
- Marketplace on track to launch on the 26th in Beta for Aurora Users.
- Play with it here: http://marketplace-dev.allizom.org (You need to be registered to see the User facing part)
- We need to start to document the list of basic articles recorded here: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/marketplace-articles
- This document was created last October. Michelle pointed out that the new documents should be created and organized with the new IA in mind.
Metrics
Localization
- We had a conversation from 42:10 - 49:00 in the video about localization and the new start pages - especially mobile. The desktop one is about to change. The mobile one just changed and will change later on when we finish all the design work. BEFORE that though, the new mobile version will be released so that's an issue. We should collect the data on the new mobile layout before marking everything as ready for L10N (next 2 weeks).
Community
- There was a question about the number of non-English KB contributors in March. We mentioned this in a SUMO meeting and Michael answered in the contributor forums saying, "I could be totally wrong but there are a lot of updates and new articles being created this month (some of which should have been done last month) so I expect that the number will go up." Is there anything else to do about this at this time? No was the answer. :)
