===== UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS =====

=== COMMUNITY ===

Cool News Of The Week (tm):

We have two people coming over to Berlin to discuss Non-Coding Communities around Mozilla (if nothing changes): Seburo & Underpass!

  • I wish we could have 50 people coming over... but not yet ;)
  • All materials will be shared with everyone as we get them

Tech Women presentations were yesterday. Check them out, they did some amazing work. https://air.mozilla.org/techwomen-2017-emerging-leader-presentations/
PLATFORM UPDATE:

Platform meeting tomorrow, please add your items to the agenda: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iz1xp2Iie4dvdy5WKC6aL8Nyx1tbLZE_6WQop4htTw8/edit

  • If no items, meeting will be cancelled

Contributor(s) of the week:

  • jscher2000 for his awesome Shield Studies site ( https://www.jeffersonscher.com/sumo/shield.php ). It might be crude, but it is also "slick"(!) and provides lots of useful information should a user ask about something they have found in Firefox (that is not malware!). Great work to not only do this, but to make it so quickly. (Seburo)

Knowledge Base / L10n:

Over 620 revisions submitted to the KB in the last 7 days - thank you all! 57 content update: still in production Issues with Firefox Rocket & Firefox Klar/Focus strings not appearing localized - will be reported and investigated

Support Forum:

Reminder, Flash had an update, however many users may still have click to activate. As we phase out the support for the Adobe Flash Player we will continue to blocklist it. Though if you are still using it, the latest version is version (27.0.0.170) OCSP Stapling issue for users is still on the rise. We are looking into a common response to disable it until we have a solution. Please remember to tell users to re-enable it once this has been resolved for their security.

Social support:

The Common Responses have been updated to this article, please do not be confused by the title. Thank you for all of your help over the weekend social support!

  • 75 conversations were replied to and only 50 left untriaged out of 1200, the automation seems to be working a bit better.
  • Please report any language that might be marked in the wrong language. This should be fixed.

Czech will be added later today or this week, please only answer if it is a language you are comfortable in, and remember hiding and showing tags changes the interface for everyone :-) There is now a bridge between the telegram group and the #aoa irc channel, how are you liking it? Please fill out the poll https://www.poll-maker.com/poll1906190x1D3d4DB8-51
Jokes, etc.

  • Where do animals go when their tails fall off?

HELP NEEDED!

=== PRODUCT UPDATES ===

  • (Seburo) Not really a Mozilla software update, but just a quick note to say that the very popular Ubuntu distribution of Linux will be having it's second update of the year on 19th October. Chances are it will not effect Firefox users too much, but be aware that the desktop environment is due to be change from Unity to Gnome and this is a big change for default Ubuntu users. [roland] - what version is this? Ubuntu LTS? (seburo) - This is not an LTS release, but will still be supported until July 2018. It has quite a few UI changes so is likely to be picked up by a number of users.
