Usage

{{delete}} creates an information box telling the user that the page is proposed for deletion. The box will show at the position on the page where you put the template and stretch horizontally to fill the width of the available space, and vertically depending on how many rows of text are needed.

To flag a page for deletion, add the template to the top of the page. The page will automatically be added to the category Category:Delete.

Do not remove the page content!
Deletion of entire pages or all the content on a page should only be done by MozillaWiki administrators. The page will be listed under Category:Delete, and eventually deleted.

Parameter

There are 3 parameters, of which 1 is unnamed and required, and 2 are named and optional.

Syntax

Case Template code Placement
Entire page {{delete|reason for deletion }} Top of page
Section {{delete|reason for deletion |section=yes}} Beneath section header
Date {{delete|reason for deletion |date= }}
Full {{delete|reason for deletion |date= |section=yes }}

Required parameter

1

Reason for deletion

This parameter is used to provide an explanation and a motivation for why the page should be deleted. Give a good description of the circumstances. It is unnamed, so no parameter name needs to be entered.

The text you enter will be prefixed by the string "This page is proposed for deletion: ".

Usage
  • {{delete|1}}

Optional parameters

date

Date of reporting

You can add the date of your report by using this parameter.

Note
  • Use a date format that can be understood across cultures, languages and borders, i.e. either by using the ISO standard (Unknown extension tag "samp"), or by giving the name of the month in full or as an abbreviation (e.g. Unknown extension tag "samp").
Usage
  • {{delete|1|date=date value}}

section

Changes the words "page" and "article" to "section"

If you want to propose only a section of the page to be deleted, use this parameter.

Any value you specify will be interpreted as "Unknown extension tag "samp"", and invoke the parameter; i.e. |section=Unknown extension tag "var" will yield the same result as |section=Unknown extension tag "var".

Usage
  • {{delete|1|section=yes}}
