'''Talk Length (please choose between 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes):''' 90 or 120 minutes
We would start with a short presentation (30–60 minutes, ideally early on the first day) to introduce the One Mozilla Style Guide and the session format that will follow.

From there, we would like to have a room or area set aside for the rest of the weekend where people could come to get help with their projects along with answers to any questions they might have (or just hang out between other sessions). It should be a drop-in format, a very hands-on and ongoing process.
'''Summary:'''<br>
Earlier this year we launched the revamped mozilla.org homepage based on our new Sandstone website style. Now we're ready to introduce the One Mozilla style guide, which includes all the information you need to use Sandstone on your community sites. The guide also outlines the rules and best practices surrounding our brands, products and how we communicate. At the same time, we'll be making all the assets you need available in a brand new assets repository.

(If the above is not possible, perhaps two 90- or 120-minute sessions, one on each day — something like that.)
Come learn about the One Mozilla style guide, what it includes and how you can put it to work for you and your community through demonstrations and examples. Topics will include tips on adapting the Sandstone style, designing for responsive layouts (for mobile devices) and generally localizing your designs beyond just translating the copy. In particular, we'll be covering the most common questions and concerns we've heard (but please bring your own as well).

'''Summary''':<br>
The session would begin with an introduction and presentation of the new One Mozilla Style Guide and assets repository, including what they encompass and how they work.

It would then transition to a workshop format where we would invite people to come with their questions and projects they'd like help with. The goal isn't to complete projects for them, but to give them the tools to empower and enable them to complete them on their own.

The workshop would also feature design demonstrations and discussions about current and past work (if there's interest, we could have Sean design something in real time so people could watch on the projector). Topics would include the new Sandstone layout for websites and how to implement it; tips on responsive design (for mobile devices); how to best use and leverage the One Mozilla Style Guide and assets repository; etc.

We would also bring a project or projects that people could start (and perhaps complete) while at MozCamp. One example would be to update their community sites with the new Sandstone design (using the Style Guide and assets repository).

We'd also like to make the room (or area) an overall creative space where people could work on projects offline (buttons, T-shirts, stickers, crafts, etc.) between other sessions.

Participants would leave with a completed Web page(s) or other asset(s) to help further Mozilla and their community goals; or with the tools and knowledge to create those pages or assets in the future. Specifically, we'd love to see people walk away with the files for Sandstone versions of their community sites (like http://mozillapl.org/, for example).
We'll reach out to the community ahead of time to ask for stories, questions, concerns or other issues people have had adapting the Sandstone style. We'll then focus on those to give participants a better understanding of how to use Sandstone (and other parts of the style guide), including how they can customize it for their own needs. In turn, we'll walk away with a better understanding of the challenges people have faced (and the questions they've had) and use those to inform future additions and revisions to the style guide and assets repository.

A couple of computers (iMacs, maybe?) that people could work on (with Adobe Creative Suite installed) would be a nice-to-have, in case people don't have their own or don't have the software (they could also use these to browse the One Mozilla Style Guide and/or assets repository)

Title of Session: Localizing Design: Sandstone in Your Community

Facilitators: Matej Novak (:matej) & Sean Martell (:mart3ll)

Are you paid or volunteer staff?: Paid

Area of Contribution (Team Name): Creative (Brand)

How are you currently involved with the community?: Steward for Creative

Location of Work (where do you reside?): Toronto

Talk Length (please choose between 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes): 90 or 120 minutes

Summary:
Earlier this year we launched the revamped mozilla.org homepage based on our new Sandstone website style. Now we're ready to introduce the One Mozilla style guide, which includes all the information you need to use Sandstone on your community sites. The guide also outlines the rules and best practices surrounding our brands, products and how we communicate. At the same time, we'll be making all the assets you need available in a brand new assets repository.

How your session furthers the MozCamp Goals (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MozCampEU2012/Tracks):
This falls under both the Grow Mozilla and Mobile + Desktop tracks. Empowering and bringing in new designers helps grow the Creative Team, while creating better localized pages helps with our download and retention goals.

Expected Outcome or Deliverable:
We'll reach out to the community ahead of time to ask for stories, questions, concerns or other issues people have had adapting the Sandstone style. We'll then focus on those to give participants a better understanding of how to use Sandstone (and other parts of the style guide), including how they can customize it for their own needs. In turn, we'll walk away with a better understanding of the challenges people have faced (and the questions they've had) and use those to inform future additions and revisions to the style guide and assets repository.

Desired Audience Type or Skill-set:
Designers, localizers and anyone looking to learn more about creative (design in particular) and how it applies to furthering the mission in their local community
