This is a documentation subpage for Template:Outdated.
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

Usage

{{outdated}} creates an information box with a message telling the user that the content of the page is outdated. The box will show at the position on the page where you put the template, and stretch horizontally to fill the width of the available space.

The template will automatically add the page to the category Category:Outdated articles.

Parameter

There is only 1 parameter, which is named and optional.

Syntax

To use the template for an entire page, put the code

{{outdated}}

on the top of the page.

To use it for a sub-section of a page, put the code

{{outdated|section=yes}}

directly beneath the sub-section's header.

Optional parameter

section

Changes the word "page" and "article" to "section"

If you want to inform the user that a section of the page is outdated, use this parameter.

Any value you specify will be interpreted as "true", and invoke the parameter; i.e. |section=yes will yield the same result as |section=haggis.

Usage
  • {{outdated|section=yes}}

Examples

This is how the messagebox looks for entire pages, and for page sections (i.e. when invoking |section).
