  • Python Brasil 10
    • One of the main tech events at Latin America. It's a 5 day gathering of devs, managers, researchers to discuss about open-source, development techniques and of course, Python! in Recife, Brasil.

    • Nov 4-7, in Malmö, Sweden
    • Øredev has its origins and focus on the software development process, from programming to project management. This is the event's 10th anniversary, and the theme this year is "passion for software."
      • Mozillians Angelina Fabbro and Christian Heilmann are speaking, Mozillians Soumya Chakraborty and Oliver Propst are supporting our presence at the Mozilla booth as well.

  • Firefox OS in the News:
    • London beat Paris ;-) in the Firefox OS bug squash party
    • Robert Nyman gave a great Firefox OS talk at Budapest.mobile
    • Firefox OS has become the third most used operating system on smartphones in Peru, displacing the fourth to Apple's iPhone according to Information Research Division of Netdreams.
    • Matchstick had a successful Kickstarter campaign for their Firefox OS based streaming dongle. They had a goal of raising $100,000 and closed out the campaign with with nearly half a million ($470,000) raised from 17,2180 donors.
    • The Alcatel ONETOUCH Fire E launched in Hungary
  • Flame Updates
    • As of last week, thanks to MozFest, we have nearly 1000 more Flame contributors. If you're one of the lucky folks to get a free Flame, I'd like to again remind y'all to flash to something contemporary and report bugs! Also a reminder to our veterans, we've got a large number of incoming new folks and some of them need your help getting their feedback to the right places. Please be gentle and helpful in redirecting them to Bugzilla or what ever is the appropriate forum. Thanks!
    • Foxtrot Flame shipment should arrive in a week or so. Still awaiting Foxtrot builds from partner.
    • Flame retail sales at Everbuying will wrap at the end of this month. If you were planning on purchasing one, now's the time.
    • Flame will be receiving its first major over-the-air update, from Firefox OS 1.3 to Firefox OS 2.0 in the next week or so. It's looking like Nov 10th, the Firefox anniversary :-)
  • 122 Mozillians landed 230 fixes into Firefox OS this last week.
    • We had 5 first time patch contributors to Firefox OS this week
      • Vishnu Teja landed a fix for Bug 1058526 - Poor grammar in MMS error message
      • Song Zheng landed his first changes at Bug 1057145 - The Camera feed is shifted to the right during a video call
      • Former Mozilla accessibility intern, Max Li, landed an A11Y patch at Bug 1011886 - Introduce key echo by character, word, and character and word
      • Augustin Trancart fixed SMS Bug 1083198 - Remove fallback for old gecko version in MessageManager.getMessages
      • AnirudhGP keyboard bug Bug 1083301 - Close-paren disables autocorrection of previous word

Vidyo Servers were upgraded over the weekend. This upgrade included a change to the control meeting page. This page has dropped flash and is now an HTML based page. New documentation in available on mana. Also VidyoRoom search was improved and now results appear in true Alphabetical order.

Launching mozvr.com next week. "A VR website about VR websites". Demos, blog posts, interviews. All in VR, plugin free, using experimental new builds of Firefox with VR webAPIs bundled.

The limit is 3 minutes per speaker. It's like a lightning talk, but don't feel that you have to have slides in order to make a presentation. If you plan on showing a video, you need to contact the Air Mozilla team before the day of the meeting or you will be deferred to the next week.
