Previous Actions
Schedule Update
- aurora 52 released (a bit late)
- beta 51.0b2 released
- Fx 50.0.1
- Drivers: bug 1300143 (IME related crash), 1300140 (IME related crash), 1317641 (sec bug) (does not affect ESR)
- No fix yet in the sec bug. Still hoping to gtb and push the dot release this week.
Add-ons
- What is last beta version for experiments in 51 Beta cycle (since there are more Betas than normal)?
- Beta 51 addons/e10s experiment holding off until we determine how to target all but MPC=false. bug 1314429 we'll be requesting an uplift to a Beta as soon as that bug is resolved. should not hurt results - gives more time for baseline to compare against later betas.
Stability
Very early telemetry crash rate comparison 49/50: https://sql.telemetry.mozilla.org/queries/1487/source#2853 Not a lot of kilohours usage, as it hasn't been a week since 50 has been released at 100%. Increase may be from plugin shutdown crashes. Also look at https://chutten.github.io/telemetry_crashes/
Aurora
overall rate: 31.13 (browser 5.21, content 25.92) ?!
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1317415
- may be another bug waiting for uplift here: 1315837
- Automatic update for aurora via taskcluster for fennec upload (thanks releng!)
Beta
overall rate: 0.99 (browser 0.77, content 0.22) thanks to calixte the numbers on arewestableyet.com for beta now exclude crashes submitted from the infobar, so they remain comparable within the cycle and with prior releases - \o/ Thank you Calixte!!! Sensible!
[marcia]
- http://bit.ly/2ggWgYY - Guess the large increase in crashes (23K) are the infobar submissions
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1319466 - volume increased in the first beta compared to both previous releases.
[philipp] 51.0b1
- crash in [@ DisconnectSwitch] & [@ COIDTable::ThreadCleanup] (5% of browser crashes - excluding infobar submissions)
- has a patch in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1294903 which was on nightly for 5 days and seems to work there
- crash in js::IsDerivedProxyObject https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1308800 (1.5% of browser crashes)
- spiking in 51, correlations seem to indicate it's related to media playback
- Mobile: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1318667 - new crash under investigation
Release
overall rate: 0.97 (browser 0.74, content 0.24)
[philipp] 50.0
- share of crashes with malicious chtbrkg.dll LSP is declining (3% of all browser crashes in the last week vs. 7% in thursday's notes)
- crashes with IME (mostly chinese) regressing in 50 (1.47% of browser crashes)
- turned off updates to 50.0 for zh locales for this reason
- fixed in 51: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1300140 & https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1291082
- crashes with nsXPCWrappedJS::nsXPCWrappedJS https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1295033 (1.2% of browser crashes)
- half of the crashing users have kaspersky, they did some analysis on it and are looking for some input in the bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1295033#c34
- Yes, who should be needinfo'd on that bug?
- half of the crashing users have kaspersky, they did some analysis on it and are looking for some input in the bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1295033#c34
- necko related crash in [@ ReleaseData] is 4.5% of all content crashes
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1145613 looks stalled for the past 2 months
- Any signs of Websense?
- qipcap.dll@0x31100 seems to account for 1% of startup crashes
[marcia] Mobile
- https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1319451 was just filed and is a similar issue to the Mozilla Online build, but the BuildID is the one that was supposed to have been fixed.
Nightly
[marcia]
- Spike in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1317415 is gone thanks to backout. The 2 signatures accounted for the highest % of crashes in nightly

- Some new bugs from Uptime: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Platform/Uptime/NightlyCrashTriage/2016Q4#2016-11-21_-_njn
- Filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1319461 for a regression that started in 52 before the merge
Mobile
[marcia]
- Fennec nightly had a spike - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1318074 - turned out to be the same issue as https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1319173
